When it comes to our gardens, everyone would like to have a beautiful garden to enjoy the nice summer weather in. However, many of us lead hectic lives and often cannot find the time to look after our garden, leaving it in a bit of a mess. Sometimes people even opt to replace their real grass with fake grass because they simply do not have the spare time to maintain it. Creating and maintaining a pretty garden does not need to be difficult, and you will soon find yourself spending more and more time in your garden if you are proud of the results, even if you have not spent hours working away in it. So, how can we create aesthetically pleasing gardens with minimal effort?

Plant some flowers
When it comes to making a garden look aesthetically pleasing, colorful flowers can really transform a garden. You could choose a part of your garden to dedicate solely to flowers and choose a range of flowers so that you have a wide range of colors in your garden. Roses, in particular, are a great addition to any garden as they are not as high maintenance as many people believe them to be. What is even better is that roses come in a vast range of colors so that you could have almost an entire rainbow at the bottom of your garden. You will need to fertilize and water your roses regularly, but besides that, they can pretty much be left alone to grow and flourish. You can buy roses at most garden centres, but you can also purchase them online and have them delivered to your home. You should remember to check your roses for Aphids as they can eat away at your roses and ruin them. If you do find some, you can simply blast them away with water or just flick them off with your fingers.
Get your children to help
If you want to improve the overall look of your garden yourself and do not want to hire a professional to do it for you, then you could consider getting your children to help you. This is not only a great way to get the job done quicker but will occupy your children for some time and stop them from wrecking the house when they are bored. Getting your children to help will also teach them some valuable gardening skills to take with them into their adult life. If you teach them to plant and grow crops, they will never go hungry, as they will always be able to provide for themselves. If you cannot persuade your children to help, you could also consider asking friends and family members to help and reward everyone at the end of the day with a nice dinner and some refreshing lemonade to say thanks for all their hard work. Enlisting others to help will get the job done quicker and not take up as much time as it would have done had you attempted to complete the job alone.
Invest in patio furniture
There is not much point in creating a beautiful garden if you do not provide yourself with a seating area to enjoy it in. Patio furniture is a great way to divide up your outdoor space and mark out the garden sections which are for relaxation and which are for flowers and vegetables. Patio furniture can make your patio look elegant and stylish and will prove to be particularly useful in the summer for entertaining guests. However, buying patio furniture can often be confusing, as there are so many options to choose from, so you should consult a patio furniture buying guide to help you choose the best furniture for you. You do not need to buy a lot of patio furniture if you do not want to. For example, you could simply buy two chairs and a small coffee table, rather than a full outdoor dining set.
Install a water feature
A water feature is a great way to make your garden look enchanting. This could be in the form of a statue that sprouts water or a small pond. However, you should probably not install a pond if you have young children, as they could harm themselves if they accidentally fall into the water. Water features tend to be relatively small and can be inserted at any part of your garden, but a pond will need more space. However, even installing a pond does not require a great amount of effort, as once more, you could enlist family and friends to help you or search for a professional gardener to install it for you. Small water features do not require any maintenance, and ponds only need to be cleaned twice a year. This is because they flourish when they are left alone, as a clean pond will not attract wildlife to it.

Hang up fairy lights or lanterns
Fairy lights and lanterns are a great way to brighten up your garden during those warm summer evenings and can give your garden an enchanting glow. They can make your garden look fun and vibrant, and if you have children, they will love them. However, you should be careful not to get too many fairy lights or lanterns as the light may annoy your neighbors during the night. These will also look great when you are entertaining friends and family during the evenings.
Keep it basic
A beautiful garden does not need to be elaborate; a simple garden can look just as gorgeous if it is well-thought-out and planned. For example, you could allow any trees or flowers in your garden already to grow as they please and leave them to flourish. This simple idea can give you a healthy garden full of wildlife, and you won’t need to lift a finger. However, you could also strip your garden back to the bare minimum and decorate it with pots full of vibrant and bright plants to brighten the land up. Potting up plants will only take a few hours of your time, and once it is done, all you need to do is remember to feed and water your plants every few days, making your garden a very easy one to maintain.
Plant an apple tree
While it is great to have a visually pleasing garden, it is also handy if you can reap some benefits out of it. One way of doing this is to plant apple trees in your garden. These can be planted from seed and will grow in your garden with very little help from you. It will take some time for your tree to grow, but once it has, it will blossom every spring. This means that it will grow a mass of pink flowers on its branches, which look particularly beautiful. Then, your tree will grow apples in the summer months, providing you with some fruit for free straight from your garden. If you live in a warm climate, you could also consider planting pear or plum trees. You could even hang a swing from your tree if the branches are strong enough, and children will love this addition to the garden.
Keep your gardening equipment in your basement
Instead of storing all of your gardening equipment in a shack or outhouse, you should get rid of an outhouse entirely. This will not only make your garden appear tidier but will give you more space which you can use to plant vegetables or more flowers and trees. If you do not have a basement or garage, you could keep your shack but try and decorate it to make it more visually pleasing to look at. For example, you could plant roses at the side of it so that they grow up against the shack. You could also paint your shack a lighter color, as darker colors tend to look less attractive, especially if the rest of your garden is full of bright flowers.
Remove any weeds in your lawn
Weeds are plants that can creep up on your lawn and even between slab stones and consequently can ruin the look of an otherwise perfect garden. Therefore, you should always try to remove weeds when you notice them. You can remove weeds by digging them out of the ground or by purchasing a weed killer, which you can spray over the affected patch of grass. This will only take a few minutes, and if you regularly remove weeds when you see them, you will prevent them from adding up over time into a big job.
Encourage wildlife
A final way to make your garden beautiful is to encourage all sorts of wildlife. You could do this by purchasing a bird table and leaving out seeds and breadcrumbs for the birds or planting buddleia, a plant that attracts butterflies. If you want to help wildlife, you could even make a hedgehog house at the bottom of your garden.
