With all the chaos of modern day life, most people have a hard time winding down and falling asleep at the end of the day. I have put together 7 consecutive yoga poses that will relax the mind & body while helping you get a better nights rest. It will only take you 5 minutes and the benefits are priceless. Let’s begin.
Begin laying on your back on your yoga mat or in your bed. Pull your knees to your chest slowly. Breathe a couple conscious breaths, in and out. Start to draw circles with your knees while you release any tension in your lower back.
Extend one leg away from you, as you pull the opposite knee closer to your chest. As you do this, feel your hips releasing the stress of the day. Repeat with the other leg.
On your back, bend one knee and cross it over the opposite side to twist and “unclamp” your spine from all the pressure it has endured today. Release and repeat with the opposite knee.
Slowly and gently begin to sit up, legs crossed. Place your left hand over your right ear and softy pull your head to bend to the left. Feel the weight on your shoulders and the anxiety of the day float away. Repeat on the opposite side.
Raise your right hand up towards the sky and bend your body over the left knee. Feel the stretch on your sides. Take a couple breaths here and repeat on the opposite side
Take a deep slow breathe as you reach foreword and bow foreword. Spend a few moments here and let your shoulders release. Lift up slowly.
Savasana “dead pose” Lay down on your back, legs apart, palms up. Let your feet release and drop to the sides. Relax all the muscles in your body. Melt into your mat or bed. Feel your body heavy and take a couple deep and slow breaths.
