On the rare and celebratory occasion that both my kids take a nap at the exact same time…….
I draw a bath. Find the book I keep meaning to finish. And have some quiet and respectful “me time”. With lavender scented bubbles surrounding me, a pink rose, a vanilla petite four & silence……drifting off to a lovely state of mind.
Mommas need to take care of themselves too! I can’t overstate the importance of self reflection and self respect when you are a busy woman. We tend to put our needs at the bottom of our To Do lists. Don’t we? But are we really doing the right thing? What if we took better care of ourselves first – and what if that left us refreshed and relaxed enough to take better care of our families and relationships? What if you greeted the day, your job, your kids, your relationships – every morning with a more calm peaceful attitude because you spend time releasing all your anxiety in a positive way? How different would they see you? How much more of a loving productive mommy would you be? I always think of the example of “emergency instructions” on a plane. The stewardess explains, “In case of a drop in cabin pressure, oxygen masks will deploy from the ceiling. Secure YOUR OWN mask first before assisting other with their mask. ” I think there is a point in there that we can carry over to our everyday lives! Respect & Love yourself first – then you can better serve others.
