When you are investing your time in interior DIY and brightening the house on the inside, you may miss out on the opportunity to brighten your home exterior at the same time. Whether you are decorating to sell your home, or you are decorating simply to brighten up the space so that you can have somewhere comfortable and cool to live in, you should be able to brighten exterior of your home in just a few short steps
While you are looking at your home exterior to ensure that it is looking amazing with excellent curb appeal, you should also consider looking at things like whether the brickwork on your home matches the rest of your neighborhood or whether the metal roof colors are going to stand out in a good way or a bad way. There are some very simple and creative things that you can do to freshen and brighten up the exterior of your home, and we’ve got some of those for you below.
- Work on the front door first. One of the fastest ways that you can improve the exterior of your home is by brightening the front door with a nice luminous color. Think sunshine yellow or luminous red. A new color should make your door pop and you can pick out some fun colors that are inviting and you can match them to the back door, too. Ask your contractor to help you with the samples on the door so you can see what would look best.
- Invest in repairing your driveway. The driveway can take up a huge space in the front of your home and your side yard, and the cracked and uneven driveway doesn’t just look bad, it can cause injuries when you trip up. Patch up the cracks and holes in the asphalt or concrete surfaces, by ensuring that you give the asphalt a new topcoat to seal it. If you can’t be bothered with this, top up the gravel and make your home stand out. You could even get red gravel to match your red front door!
- Add exterior lighting. We’re not talking about the blazing bright white light that you can buy online, but some soft solar lighting but when it comes to the twilight hours lights up and make your house look inviting. The better lighting can create the right ambience and give your home quite a new look in the evening.
- Stain the decking and the fences. If you want to create an entirely new look, you can get a good stain or varnish for your decking and for your fencing. Make sure it’s waterproof so that it doesn’t cause any issues when it rains, but you can change the whole look of the entirety of the front of your home. A good stain is going to give your front yard a breath of fresh air that it hasn’t had for a long time. This is a good way to update the exterior of your home.
