Toy Story Land – the secret inside scoop.
This highly anticipated land is finally open. Everyone is losing their minds! Way back in February 2018, Disney took to Good Morning America to announce that the epic Toy Story Land will be opening June 30th in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. This is another PIXAR addition to the Disney Parks along with the Disneyland nighttime fireworks show “Together Forever” and Pixar Pier.
The entrance for Toy Story Land is just to the right of the old entrance for the Toy Story Mania ride on Pixar Place Road.
If case you haven’t experienced this one, I’ll tell you a little about it. Toy Story Mania was one of the most popular rides in Hollywood Studios. (until the Slinky Dog Coaster opened!) This ride is a 4D shooting targets game. You build a score with the targets that you shoot and it features all the Toy Story characters. It’s fun for all ages.
Guests went crazy when they changed the park guide maps to include Toy Story land in February!

All this is exciting news and you can get it all right here.
It is all thanks to the incredible blogger conference “Disney Social Media Moms Celebration”. I was invited in February 2018 and I got all the secret juicy details that they haven’t released to the press. This summer, Disney invited me BACK for a media event to experience it all for myself!

Ok, let’s talk about everything INSIDE Toy Story Land. First off, it’s huge. It adds 11 acres to the Hollywood Studios Park. The setting is Andy’s backyard and you, the guest have shrunk to the size of a toy! I was able to snag an interview with Ryan Wineinger who was a Disney Imagineering Art Director for the Toy Story Land Project. He gave me all the inside scoop details of the park earlier this year.
This summer I was able to interview a few more Imagineers after the park opened and I gained some wonderful insight to this whimsical land.
Tom is the Entertainment Director for Hollywood Studios. He shared with me a little bit about his background and his belief that “Good entertainment is timeless!”. Tom told me that the army men & woman and how called the Army brigade. He wanted an atmosphere of inclusively where everyone is invited to “be on stage”. Toy Story Land totally immerses you in the entertainment (the wandering drum core, the photo ops, the Instagram Walls, the characters, the rides!).
I also spent some time with an Operations Director for Hollywood Studios. What a treat! He was patient and answered all of my questions. He was so excited to share Toy Story Land with guests. He told me that the stained popsicle sticks was his favorite element. He remembers the feel and smell of popsicle sticks from his own childhood and it’s the part of Toy Story Land that he most connects with.
That is one of the most beautiful parts of this new land. There is a part of Toy Story Land that will connect with at least a small portion of everyones childhood. It may be a toy, a treat, or a smell that will bring you back to the carefree times of just being a kid! You gotta come visit this land for yourself!
New Rides
Slinky Dog Dash. This is a rollercoaster that stretches throughout the entire 11 acres from end to end. You ride through oversized models of familiar childhood toys and larger than life replicas of Rex and Jessie. The coaster is a thrill ride with a height requirement of 38 inches. The whole family can enjoy this one!
Alien Twirling Saucers. Oooooh & Aaaah with your favorite little aliens as they lead you in a spinning ride through space. Riders are seated in a cart being towed by a cute little green alien. Beware, there is a special surprise appearance by “The Claw”. Will the claw choose you? Be taller than 32in to find out!
New Restaurant
1. Woody’s Lunch Box. Ryan the imaginer explained that the idea behind this walk-up window restaurant is that Andy tipped over his lunch box and now you can enjoy your typical childhood favorites reimagined in a whole new way. Disney is the expert at themed food – so you know these treats will be totally insta-worthy. CLICK HERE to read the full Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner Menus! Mmmmmmmm.

Toy Story Land appeals to the kid in all of us. Disney aims to pull out that childhood sense of play and wonder that we seem to tuck away as adults. I want to thank all the Imagineers and Disney World Parks for inviting me along to experience Toy Story Land.
(These are my little kiddos.)

that looks like so much fun, my girls LOVE Toy Story so I am excited to see the height requirements for the rides.
I know! Mine train is 38. But Goofys is 35. The Imaginner I spoke with said they want 35, but can’t give me a hard number. But he gave me a wink and said – it will probably be 35inches.
SOOOO cool!!! Thanks for sharing this! We’re planning our first trip with our baby for Thanksgiving week of this year…I hope the crowds have died down a bit by then…but I’m not holding my breath hahaha
Oh man, taking a baby to Disney is so fun and exciting. I promise you will see everything differently through her eyes. The week right before thanksgiving is a quiet one. Just before they put up all the Christmas decor and is all fall themed. It’s so beautiful. This is a YouTube video showing all the gorgeous FALL THEMED Disney decor and the crowds are really low during that time. I promise! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8bIOg3xShU
First, it’s so awesome that you got to participate in this! My husband loooooves Disney like a great big old kid…if he’s very good I may just have to take him to new Toy Story Land.
I love that! We should never grow up – keep your childlike wonder alive. Keep wishing upon a star and believing in magic.
SO FUn…. I can’t wait to take my kids when they get a little older!! 🙂
Take them! Disney is for all ages. Plus kids under 3 are free in Disney – that’s a big incentive.
We will be going one day! Not for the kids though….for my hubby haha. Toy Story is his favorite childhood movie and will just be in hog heaven in this place! I can’t wait!
IT’s amazing how that toy story franchise can crossed generations – my kids love the new movies. My heart is still pulled to the old ones. Toy Story is for everyone.
Toy Story is cool! Funny thing that the first one came out when my oldest was little, he’s now 21. Jeesh!
Then he will love it! It’s for kids and adults alike. The purpose to is awake the kid in all of us!
This is perfect for kids and families! We’re not quite there yet (no kids), but this would definitely be a great stop for younger kids due to all the options. I’ll put it on the future to do list!
Oo girl, Joelle, I went to Disney all the time before kids. Toy Story brings out the kid in all of us. You gotta go – you’ll see!
This is exciting. there are going to be so many happy little people.
and happy BIG PEOPLE, like me! lol.
So excited will be there in july!!!
I’m trying to make it down there SOON. IG DM me when you’re there in July – maybe we can meet up!
This looks like such a great place to take kids (and parents haha)! So much to see and do, what a great idea to create a Toy Story Land!
AND PARENTS!LOL – yes heather. I think a lot of young parents in their 20s are pumped. That’s the generation that watched Toy Story back in the 90s and first fell in love with it. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to share it with our own children.
I love that you got the inside scoop. This looks like it will be a total blast for the entire family. Toy Story is definitely one of my faves :0
It’s my fav toooo. This whole area is going to be amazing when it opens!
