Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
This Disney Hotel is a huge 87 acre family style resort. It has 1120 family suites that measure roughly 500 square feet! The theme is Animation so there are sketches and drawing all over the décor. There are themed areas where your favorite movies come to life in the Finding Nemo, Little Mermaid, Lion King and Cars sections. You will feel like you are inside the movie and so will your kids. The level of detail in this resort makes you forget that this is considered a “value resort”. But in comparison to the other value resorts this is by far the best, cleanest and most Disney Quality in magical-ness.
The huge foot court can seat up to 600 people and is open for every meal. There are also 5 “mini” restaurants that have healthier options that I would definitely recommend, they are also less crowded than the main dining area.
- Burger Shop – customize beef, vegetarian, seafood or chicken burgers. “Any way you want it, that’s the way you need it!”
- The Market – Fruit smoothies, Coffee Frappuchinos, tiny desserts and the most amazing gelato.
- Soup-Salad-Sandwich Shop – Build your own salad and sandwhiches with a side of homemade potato chips
- Pizza Shop – Pasta and pizza, who can say no?
- World Flavors Shop – From France to the Middle East there is something special for everyone here.
There are pools at all the themed section except for the Lion King. (Because its in the hot sahara, obviously). There are smaller pools in the Cars Area and The Little Mermaid section. But the biggest main most impressive pool is the ”Big Blue” pool in the Finding Nemo Courtyard. You can hear voices of Nemo, Dory and Crush – but only when you are underwater! There is also music playing exclusively underwater. There is a small splash pad area called Righteous Reef. The names and décor is simply incredible. You gotta see the 27ft My Ray that looks over the area. There is also coral reefs for the kids to play in.
The Finding Nemo section (which was my personal favorite) also includes larger than life replicas of your favorite characters. There are a group of seagulls perched on one of the buildings. When you walk by then just right, they start barking, “Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!”.
The Cars, Lion King and Little Mermaid sections are just as detailed and immaculate. I will let you judge for yourself in these photos. This is Disney standards shown in full force and glory.

There is one detail that is super unique to the Art of Animation Resort. There is a daily contest that runs till 5:45pm. Kids can sketch their favorite Disney Character and turn it in to the front desk by 4pm. At 5:45pm the winning sketch it announced ceremoniously in the lobby. You could be the official “Sketch Artist of the Day!”. The Front desk will even give you some art supplies, just ask! P.s. To help inspire you and your kids there is a playroom next to the front desk that hosts a drawing class at 11am, 2pm and 5pm led by a real Disney artist.
Don’t forget to ask the front desk for a schedule of the daily activities going on around the resort. Every Disney resort has activities, crafts, and a nighttime movie. There is always an arcade and poolside games that are fun to check out. Staying at a Disney resort is so much more than just a place to sleep at the end of a long day at the parks. It is a destination in itself. You can have a packed day of entertainment and activity without leaving the resort itself.
For the price and experience, you don’t get much more “bang for your buck” on the Walt Disney World property than the Art of Animation Resort. Even if you aren’t staying here, stop on by for a quick bite and walk around. You’ll be glad you did!
