It’s always been a dream of mine to attend the Emmys Red Carpet. I love television and streaming shows. The Television Academy Emmy Awards celebrates the best of these categories and I’m all here for it. Personally, I’m partial to comedy over drama. But this year I had the goal to try to watch EVERYTHING that was nominated for an Emmy. So I REALLY got into it this year! I wrote a whole post about it! Read about it HERE.
As soon as I heard that the Emmy Awards were taking place September 22nd, and I was going to be in town, I knew I had to go! At the very least to the Emmys Red Carpet!
How I got Invited to the Emmys Red Carpet
I have never covered an awards show for my blog! I did not know anybody who worked for FOX or the Television Academy. But I knew, I had to go! I had to find a way!
I emailed everyone I knew, signed up for every contest I could find, and put myself out there! I also made it known to the world (to all my friends, told my family, and posted on social media) that it was my desire to be on the Emmys Red Carpet.
I prayed.
I meditated and visualized myself on that emmys red carpet on September 22nd every single morning.
Then, a few weeks before the Emmy Awards, I received an email. It was an email from someone I contacted on a whim, asking me to complete a full background check before being “officially” invited to the Emmy Awards!
What the WHAT?! Manifestation, prayer, whatever you wanna call it…it worked! I passed the background check and so did my husband. We were both going to the Emmys Red Carpet this year! (2019)
I cannot express to you the insane feeling of gratefulness that I am still carrying. I still can’t believe I went! Let me tell you about the whole experience!
Sunday, September 22nd, The Emmys Red Carpet
We arrived early Sunday morning to downtown LA. We had a special parking pass we printed out. We handed the parking pass to the guard and he waved us to the right (when everyone else was going left!) to the VIP parking area. I was already feeling so fancy and privileged!
In my usual elegance, I changed into my dress in the car and put on a TON of make up. Then we headed out into the area where they checked our bags, our IDs and gave us wristbands. We were given strict instructions on which areas we were allowed to wander to.
Then they proceeded to take us through the official security and onto the Emmys red carpet. We passed all the booths where the celebrities were going to be interviewed. Then we got to our destination. There were seats set up, elevated on a platform. Each seat had a swag bag from People Magazine with a bunch of goodies inside!
They had water stations on the Emmys red carpet behind us because it was a warm day and the red carpet is “open-air”. The water stations were sponsored by “Smart Water” and you could get still water, flavored water, & sparkling water. They also gave us reusable plastic souvenir bottles, which I appreciated because I can’t imagine how many paper cups we would have gone through!
After the celebrities were interviewed, they had to walk in front of us to get into the Staples Center where the Awards show was being held. This means we got to see everybody! In a matter of 4 hours we saw every celebrity I can think of – even the British ones like Phoebe Waller-Bridge!
The Best Parts of the Emmys Red Carpet
The fashion was pretty spectacular to see up close! A lot of women in yellow and color-block dresses.
Being able to make eye contact and touch some of my favorite entertainers was so cool and weird. I guess in my mind I didn’t REALLY think Lin Manuel Miranda was real. But trust me, he’s real and he’s just as adorable and kind as you can imagine.
It was a highlight to see the entire cast of VEEP, the entire cast of The Good Place, Shitts Creek, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and Barry! Those are my favorite shows and I was so star struck. I even got a photo with Sarah Goldberg from Barry who I really really admire. I think she is such an great actor and deserved to win best supporting actress in a comedy. Maybe next year.
I also got to see nearly the whole cast of SNL along with the mysterious Lorne Michaels.

Why was the Emmys Red Carpet, Purple this year?
Excellent questions, I was wondering why it was purple too. It turns out, the red carpet was purple this year to represent “royalty”. There were a lot of seasoned actors nominated that they consider “royalty” in the business. (Henry Winkler, Michael Douglas, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, etc.). That is why the Emmys Red Carpet was purple in 2019.
That was the entirety of my magical moments on the Emmys Red Carpet. I hope you enjoyed coming on this journey with me! I want to thank FOX and People Magazine for the invitation and the kindness we experienced. I would do it all over again!
