Fall is upon us and even in sunny Miami Beach you can find a few leaves falling and a tiny pit of color changing. Ah, its lovely. It still feels like change is coming, cozy change. And with this inspiration I have an Autumn themed super easy craft that anyone can make with their kids! This is an adorable craft that you can make with your little ones and big ones this season with fallen leaves. I did this recently with my 1 year old and 3 year old. They loved it. We were in Virginia in late October – so the leaves and colors were beautiful. We spent about an hour gathering leaves and placing them into a basket. This was so easy and fun, we would discuss the shapes and colors. It made for a great teaching moment. Even little 1 yr old Walt understood what we were doing. After the hour of gathering leaves we brought them inside and let them dry out for a couples hours. (This step wasn’t super necessary but it made the paint and glitter stick a whole lot better.) Then we would each pick a dried leaf from the basket and start painting and decorating it. We would sprinkle some glitter paint on every once and a while for some “Fairy magic”. You can embellish the leaf or tone it down. Make it your own! As we would finish painting each leaf we would then hang them up to dry on a stretched piece of twine. We used mini clothes pins to secure them. Buy some here.
We left them hanging up the whole vacation. You can leave this hanging all season inside your home! This gives the house a little sense of Autumn. It would work perfectly on a door or a fireplace mantel! How fun for the kids to see their masterpieces displayed. This is hands down the easiest craft to do with kids! Get out there and start!
Happy Fall Everyone!
