We are always looking for cool and interesting places to expose out kids to learning. The frost Science Museum located in Downtown Miami is open for business and checks all of our boxes. The museum is located about 10 minutes form where we live on Miami Beach. We have been passing the building and watching the construction happen for over a year so to finally visit we did feel like we were seeing the result of a project we were involved in.
A few things to mention from the start is that is you are a Baptist Health South Florida Hospital employee you get 50% off of the admission price. Also, this place fills up quick on the weekends so make sure that you go early or carve out a time during the week if you don’t want to fight the crowds. There are some free options to visit the museum and other special offers. To see keep up to date visit the Frost Science Museum website.
Okay lets dive into more about the museum. When you arrive, if you are parking your car, the garage is located under the museum and it alone is beautiful. It feels like your parking in an rainforest cave. The parking garage services both eh frost science museum and the Perez art museum. We also visited Perez a few months back and you can see that here. When you walk up the stairs to the second level where the entrance is located there is a huge open patio that connects the two museums. On the Perez side there are some interesting interactive modern art exhibits and the patio wraps around to an amazing cafeteria with outdoor seating and a view of the port of Miami. Adjacent to this is the frost science museum. The ticketing and entrance is on this patio level along with a gift shop. The museum is constructed with quite a bit of out door patios connecting the exhibits. To go from floor to floor and between exhibit spaces you are outdoors but under cover most of the time. It rained quite a bit when we were there and we were able to stay dry for the most part.
On the first floor you will find the entrance to the planetarium. These shows are included in your ticket price and you will select what show you want to see when you purchase your ticket. There is limited entry on busier days so this is another reason to get there early.

Education is always a priority! We visited tons of museum during every trip we did. My daughter enjoyed them so much, she now goes to college in NY and makes it a point to visit a different one at least once a month.
