I was invited by Disney to walk the red carpet of the Frozen 2 World Premiere in Hollywood at the Dolby theater. It was a life changing experience and if you wanna see pictures of my fancy dress and hear my feelings, come read My Experience Walking the Red Carpet Frozen 2 Premiere.
Frozen 2 was an incredible movie and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. I want to say first, before anything else, THIS MOVIE IS BETTER THAN THE FIRST. You read that right, Frozen 2 is better than the original.
The director, Jennifer Lee said this of creating a sequel: “We have more story to tell. And we decided to go into the unknown.” To read more quotes from the actors and inside secrets from the making of Frozen 2, Check out my post: Kristen Bell & I talked it out | Frozen 2 Press Junket
Frozen 2 Synopsis
Frozen 2 begins where the original left off. Elsa is queen, Anna is princess and in a relationship with Kristoff, Olaf has grown up a little and understands the world around him. All 4 must set out on a journey far from Arendelle. On this journey we learn the backstory of Arendelle and the origin behind Elsa’s powers!
Frozen 2 totally honored the original but takes the characters in a different direction. Everything you think you know about Elsa and her parents are wrong. Wait for your mind to be blown!
Kristoff is the New & Improved Prince Charming
The creators of Frozen described Kristoff as “Prince sincere, not prince charming”. Jonathan Groff voices Kristoff and he gives it his all in Frozen 2!
Kristoff plays a mountain man that is strong and sensitive. He is a confident respectful man who is sincere in his love for everyone in his tribe.
Jonathan Groff had this to say about his character, “Often times it’s a girl who is frustrated, alone and singing about their desire for a man.” (i.e. Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, you get the idea)
Jonathan Groff continued, “Now it’s a man pining after a woman [Anna] who is dealing with his emotions and singing about it. Frozen 2 continues to challenge peoples expectations of gender roles. Boys need to understand that ‘You feel what you feel and your feelings are real.’”

Just for kicks, here’s a grainy photo of Jonathan Groff and I at the Frozen 2 premiere after party:
Scenes that prove Kristoff is the Dreamiest
At one point in the film, I almost jumped out of my seat and gave a standing ovation. In one scene, Anna is in distress. There is a battle going on and Kristoff comes galloping in on his reindeer. He swoops down and grabs Anna. He doesn’t deliver the usual lines of a rescuer like “I’ve got you!” Instead he says, “I’m here, what do you need!?”
In another scene of the movie, Anna apologizes for something she did and Kristoff replies, “It’s ok, my love is not fragile.” WOW, it’s this type of supportive ego-less love that I want to see in my son and for my daughter to demand.
Frozen 2 will Change the World
Frozen 2 is not only a princess movie for little girls. Frozen 2 is a movie for boys and girls of all ages (I personally recommend it for ages 2-99)
Frozen 2 silently wars against toxic masculinity and empowers boys to feel their feelings. The representation of an emotionally healthy romantic lead is out of this world. It’s so subliminal that most will not pick up on it, but hopefully we will all be influenced by it.
The Epic Music
The couple who wrote the music for the Frozen franchise (Kristen & Robert Lopez) have composed a new front runner song in Frozen 2 called “Into the Unknown” Into the Unknown will be the juggernaut that “Let it Go” was. Trust me.
Kristen Bell says there was one big mistake in Frozen the original and it was the fact that Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) did not get to sing enough! Well, Frozen 2 remedies this sentiment. Kristoff gets his own song and its a bit of a tragic comedic 80s power ballad. You’re going to have to see to believe it!
By the way, there is an adorable and hilarious scene after the credits. When the movie ends, STAY AFTER THE CREDITS! You will thank me later!
Why do we come back to these Disney Sequels?
In all honesty this movie shows a deeper side of the usual fairytale. In Frozen 2 the characters grow through trauma and struggle. It’s an incredibly powerful story that ends with everyone taking a new role that you don’t see coming!
