What to Do:

  1. Hit the Beach: Start your day with some sun, sand, and surf at one of Amelia Island’s picturesque beaches. Whether you prefer the bustling atmosphere of Main Beach or the tranquility of Fernandina Beach, there’s a spot for every beach lover to unwind and soak up the coastal vibes.
  2. Explore Historic Downtown: Take a step back in time as you wander through the cobblestone streets of downtown Fernandina Beach. Admire the well-preserved Victorian architecture, browse unique boutiques, and stop by local art galleries. Don’t miss Centre Street, the heart of downtown, where you’ll find a variety of shops, restaurants, and historic landmarks.
  3. Outdoor Adventures: Embark on outdoor adventures like kayaking through marshlands, biking along scenic trails, or horseback riding on the beach. Amelia Island’s natural beauty provides the perfect backdrop for exploration and outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities to connect with nature.
  4. Visit Fort Clinch State Park: History buffs will appreciate a visit to Fort Clinch State Park, where you can explore a well-preserved 19th-century fortress. Take a guided tour, hike along nature trails, or simply enjoy a picnic with stunning views of the Amelia River.

Where to Stay:

Enjoy the comforts of home away from home by renting a beachfront condo or vacation home. With options ranging from cozy cottages to spacious villas, vacation rentals offer flexibility and privacy for a relaxing retreat. The best place to stay, that I found was a 3 bedroom, 2 full bathroom home that’s sleeps up to 8 people, has a fenced in yard, washer/dryer, fireplace, patio, outdoor fire pit, outdoor shower, 7 TVs, large dining and living area, & a short walk to the beach access. It’s charmingly called “Amelia Blue”.

Where to Eat:

  1. Fresh Seafood: Sample the island’s fresh seafood offerings at local eateries like Timoti’s Seafood Shak or Brett’s Waterway Café. Indulge in flavorful shrimp, oysters, and fish caught straight from the Atlantic Ocean.
  2. Farm-to-Table Fare: Experience the farm-to-table movement at restaurants like Burlingame Restaurant or Espana Restaurant & Tapas. Savor locally sourced ingredients and innovative culinary creations inspired by the island’s vibrant food scene.
  3. Sweet Treats: Treat yourself to delectable desserts and artisanal sweets at places like Amelia Island Coffee or Fantastic Fudge. From gourmet coffee drinks to handmade chocolates, satisfy your sweet tooth with a taste of indulgence.

In conclusion, Amelia Island offers the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and culinary delights. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, exploring historic streets, or savoring local flavors, this charming destination promises an unforgettable getaway tailored to your desires. So pack your bags, gather your girlfriends, and escape to Amelia Island for an experience that will leave you rejuvenated and inspired.
