I have a new and exciting healthcare gadget to show you all! The company StatGear recently approached me and asked if I would try out one of their little medical supply accessories. I thought sure, it would be fun to try to incorporate a new little gadget into my nursing shift. They explained to me that it was invented and developed by healthcare workers (a genius paramedic) in New York and it seems to be taking off. Yesterday was my first shift using the StatGear tape holder. It’s supposed to keep tape handy and accessible so you aren’t rummaging through your pockets for supplies. (Raise your hand if you are guilty of always rummaging through your scrubs! Or doing the “Macarena” looking for where you stuck your pen!) So I brought one tape holder for my stethoscope and one for my friend.
I was shocked, just an hour into my shift. This thing is amazing.
I didn’t even notice it was hanging on my stethoscope until I needed tape. The design of it is very aerodynamic, it feels like it fits into my hand and fingers when your pulling tape out. This if how you use it, you slip it onto one of the ear piece arms of your stethoscope, you tighten the “bolt” to secure it, then you slip a roll of tape on. I can go through a roll of tape in 3 shifts, maybe 2. It’s a real need in the nursing world. I am so happy that StatGear chose and sponsored me to use this thing. It really made my work life easier on one of the worst shifts I’ve had in a long time. But it’s the little things in nursing that make make or break your day. And this little gadget made my day. If you want to try it out, it’s very affordable. If you are a nurse or paramedic or vet or any profession where you wear a stethoscope – I know you are using tape all the time. Give this thing a try, STAT!
It also makes for a great little gift for the healthcare worker in your life, your work bestie, or the new grad who is just about to start their career in the medical field.
