“There is a place where amazing things happen, just to put a smile on the face of a child. Where skies sparkle. And moments of wonder get to live forever as your memories. A place where brothers and sisters actually get along. And families get to experience that rare delight of……simply being a family. There is a place where magic lives. Welcome, to Walt Disney World.”
– excerpt from an early Disney Vacation Guide VHS
Disney World and Walt Disney himself hold special places in my heart. I mean, I named my son “Walt”! As a kid we used to frequent Disney World often. My dad was the sole provider for the family and worked as hard as he could to get us Yearly Passes. So we went to Disney world ALOT. And with all those trips under my belt, you would think I would be “tired” of disney. Sick of the magic? Bored of the same shows and rides? Absolutely not. Disney is not the shows and rides in and of themselves. It is the “Disney Experience” that keeps me coming back. And that is what brought me to Disney World just recently. I always said that I didn’t want to do Disney with my kids when they were young. I didn’t want to push that big double stroller (i thought strollers were I nightmare…boy was I wrong!). I didn’t want to try to find a place for them to nap. And in all honesty, I thought the kids would slow me down from the fun. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. I first realized this when we were buying tickets outside the gate. Daisy my 3 yr old was waltzing away in her princess dress to the music. By the look on her gentle face you could tell she was, in her heart, a princess. We hadn’t even entered the park yet. She caught on to the atmosphere, straightened her crown, and began to dance. A single tear fell down my face. Disney was no longer for my enjoyment. The biggest joy that day was going to be watching my beautiful daughter experience the magic through her eyes, in all her uniqueness and innocence. I will share more about that day in the posts to come. I will be going back. I have to go back.
Because there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world.
I am happy to introduce a “disney side” to my digital living room. Yes, readers, I will be blogging about Disney World now. Tips, tricks, and secrets to help you and I have the best Disney Experience. See you at Mickeys house!
