Lovers Key
This is the view from the penthouse apartment in the Lovers Key Resort! I love the view of the west side of Florida! It’s just 2 hours west of Miami and a few minutes from gorgeous Sanibel Island!
Just in case you are searching for a room or Airbnb, here is the address: 8771 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
For my 29th birthday, we packed up and drove from our east coast Miami beach to the west coast of Naples/Ft Meyers. My kids love a good beach vacation!
We stayed Thursday to Sunday and that was just enough time to enjoy the resort and explore the whole area of Lovers Key and Sanibel Island.
What to do
The thing to do in SouthWest, FL is chill on the beach and collect shells. So everyday we went “shelling”. The best time to find shells was at low tide at sunset. Check the tide charts to know when it will be the lowest!
Oh! And the sunsets! The sun over the ocean is just gorgeous. You’ll think you’re in California. Everyone should watch the sunset over the west coast sea at least once in their lives! It’s a total bucket list item.
There is also a beautiful new clean state park on Lovers Key. It has a playground, charcoal grills, and grassy park areas, just steps from the beach. On one afternoon we played here and grilled some pineapple chicken on the charcoal park grills.
Overall, I was surprised at how empty and quiet the beaches were. The little towns around south west Florida are small and super clean. It is a nice place to visit.
Souvenirs
Alex made this last night with a piece of drift wood we found in lovers key and some of the shells we collected in Sanibel! It’s hanging in our living room as a reminder / keepsake from our wonderful beach holiday. I love it!
