Making New Years resolutions is a ritual that I practice every year around this time. It’s satisfying to cross off goals from my personal list. I encourage everyone to write just a few resolutions for this coming year. As you do this, there are 3 things to remember….
1. Make specific goals. Leave out words like “more” “less” or “better”. Instead of “read more”, make a point to read a specific number of books this year.
2. Separate goals into categories. This helps you evaluate all the areas of your life. This helps you see where you can start being extraordinary! I use 7 categories: my kids, my body, my art, my career, my spirit, my home, & travel.
3. Post your goals, so you read them often. I personally post them by my bed. I can glance at them when I wake up and before I go to bed. With my goals posted, I am reminded of where I want to be at the end of the year.
So, fix yourself a nice warm cup of coffee or tea on this beautiful New Years Weekend. Find a quiet moment. Reflect on the past year. Quietly smile at the good and learn what you can from the bad. Find more time for improvement in your life today. You only get one time around on this wonderful carousel of life. I hope my writing and photographs inspire you to live a life more extraordinary and make you…Meg For It.
