Yesterday I worked one of my longest shifts ever. I came in early and left late. I took on 6 patients on a cardiac unit and then at one point had to watch another RNs patient when she went to a Magnet certification Lunch. I also took her phone.
2 phones, 7 patients, 1 VIP, all telemetry….
I survived. That is the true nature of a nurse. We just take it on. Whatever is thrown our way.
p.s. I also came into work trying to look cute. Ha! That didn’t last long!
