I want to take a moment to reflect on
how our attitude and mindset affect our daily functions. With a positive mind we can overcome so many obstacles.
Pain, in one form of another, is present throughout our society and personal lives. We all, at some point, have experienced a pain or a trauma. I’m sorry. There is no denying that and no shortchanging it. Myself included, our wounds need healing. In order to heal you must acknowledge and validate that pain. Only then can we move forward. What we do next is critical. Simply saying “move on” and “put it behind you” is not an effective way to deal with pain or negativity. I believe that we make choices regarding what we LET affect us.
If you don’t deal with the underlying issue first, you’re only masking the symptoms.
Making a decision for change in your life is not as simple as a rubber band around your wrists, a tattoo or a t-shirt reminding you to smile or be happy. (Although it can really help!) Moments when we make true positive change are often during some of the most painful moments we experience. We decide how much power the pain can have. Don’t let your pain win, because bitterness will move in. A decision to forgive, a decision to let something go, a decision to move on takes time, takes strength, and above all takes effort. Keeping the goal of “peace and positivity” is important, but in order to reach that goal you need to put in the work. The “work” you put in is very personal and customized to who you are. You may need to be journaling, acknowledging your pain, facing your feelings, leaving your environment, rejecting the negative thoughts, serving others or finally being kind to yourself.
I want to leave you with some encouragement as we work toward a more positive self and a more positive world. Be that change you want to see in the world. Face those dark memories and bitter emotions. Draw from your inner strength and desire to feel that overwhelming peace. Look to your faith, family, or friends because we often need someone to walk along side of us. Look to the future and keep your eye on the prize. Be present in the moment while keeping a wide perspective. Trust the power of a positive mind!
Plan for tomorrow but don’t wait for tomorrow.
Live a life more extraordinary
