Or just lay on the sandy beach located in Georgia Veterans Memorial Park. This is also a great spot for those with RVs or campers—walk outside and see the sun already shining over Lake Blackshear!

About Lake Blackshear, Location
Located in southwest Georgia off of I-75, Lake Blackshear is a manmade lake that was created by the United States’ first county-owned dam, Crisp County Power Dam. At about 20 miles long, the lake is a prized location for those in Crisp County and visitors looking for recreational activities and wildlife. For the last 70 years, people have come to enjoy the sandy beaches and amenities available through the park that make you feel at peace when trying to get away.
What to Do in Lake Blackshear
If you love being outside and getting the full lake experience, you will love Lake Blackshear. There are tons of water sports options around the lake, such as boating and water skiing, or you can float and swim in the water and relax. The lake is great for trophy fishing too. There is even a bass fishing tournament hosted every year that is nationally recognized.
Tips for RV camping
Georgia Veterans State Park on Lake Blackshear will become your home away from home as you spend a weekend parked and nestled among natural beauty. There are 82 campsites at the park that allow for RVs, trailers, and tents. The spots can accommodate either one or two tents or RVs and trailers up to 50 feet. The sites have water and electricity hookups, cable TV access, a fire pit and a picnic table. Washrooms and showers are available for everyone’s convenience.
Because this is a popular destination, you may want to do some planning ahead of time. Book a reservation so you don’t miss out. If you are staying in the park, you will be close to all of the great amenities the lake has to offer. There are even spots on the lake that give you access to a boat ramp during your stay as well.

When you are spending time at the lake, you will be able to park for free along the perimeter of the lake. There is lodging onsite as well as spots for parties or meetings. You can also rent from the clubhouse boats, bicycles, canoes and kayaks, jet skis, and pontoons!

Right off the lake, you can enjoy the Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club if you want to have a nice lunch or to do a quick 9. And if you are looking for a scenic meal with your family, there are plenty of restaurants around the lake that have been recognized by the magazine Southern Living.
