Drinking is an integral part of one’s vacation. Of course, you can always drink at home and save yourself a little (or a lot) of money, but it’s not the same as drinking outside. The memories are simply priceless. This humble article is the drinker’s guide to Britain. From the best bars with the best drinks to get wasted on, to the fanciest most romantic bottomless brunch spots for the couples who really love their drinks, you’ll find it all here.
- The Devil’s Advocate – Edinburgh
Without a doubt, one of the best bar names of all time. The devil’s advocate… genius! Other than the name, though, what do they have to offer? A lot. First things first, the bar is well-known for its whiskey collection. What’s so special about it? Well, there is a selection of over 200 varieties. So, if you are a whiskey person, this little spot in Scotland is guaranteed to soon become your heaven. The second thing that makes this bar worth your while is that the staff knows what they’re doing.
If you’re unsure about what to drink, they won’t recommend a random classic, or the most expensive cocktail off the menu. They’ll recommend something based on your preferences. You’ll have no choice but to fall in love with the place. Third and most important, the place has an exceptionally cozy vibe. You can’t taste a fine whiskey if you’re not comfortable and they understand that. Along with a variety of intimate seating areas and high tables, you’ll definitely find the atmosphere to your liking whether you’re alone, on a date, or out with your buddies. Keep in mind that reservations are essential as they run out of tables fast.
- Kindred – London
The second spot is one for the lovers. If you happen to be in Britain a day or two before Saturday, you’ve got to spare some time and swing by London for bottomless brunch because it’s a sin to miss out on this spot. Although, you need to make sure that you have more than two hours because that’s how much time you’ll wanna spend there. “Two hours” seems too specific, doesn’t it? They made the rules when they set two hours of bottomless drinks along with their variety of brunch dishes.
Drink-wise, Kindred are known for their refreshing mimosas and their Bloody Marys are to die for. Food-wise, you’ll want to have a light dinner because you’ll need the extra space in your stomach. They’ve got all the classics, from breakfast hash to buttermilk pancakes, all perfected and cooked to taste. If you’re vegan, they’ve got you covered with some of the best vegan options in town, too!
- Happiness Forgets – London
In a small basement, you’ll find this place. It’s a fun place with a relaxed atmosphere and none of that excessive decor that’s heavy on the eye. The place prides itself on its authenticity and strong character. The staff makes each drink with the highest standards in mind while making sure to add the “Happiness Forgets” touch to their every creation. If you’ve had a bad experience with a type of alcohol, this is where you need to go to recover. The two things to do before you go are, make a reservation and eat a snack. The snack is to keep you from getting too drunk too fast without taking up too much space in your stomach.
- Jalou – Newcastle
When it comes to clubbing, there are two types of people. Type one you’ll find on the dancefloor, you know, clubbing like the extroverts they are. Type two you’ll find on the sidelines with a drink in their hand talking to another type two about how horrible clubbing is. Amidst this eternal struggle between the ones and twos, extroverts, and introverts, this late-night bar has established itself as neutral territory.
Regardless of who you are, you’ll find your kind here sipping on drinks made by professional mixologists, the best in the business. As for the music, it’s as tight as the cocktails which they have plenty of. If you don’t like the drink selection, guess what? They’re prepared to go off-menu for you.
Four places, each of them is a must-try. If you’ve been having difficulty finding cool places before, now your problem is narrowing them down. We could tell you to pick according to the people you’re with, the atmosphere you like, and your favorite cocktails, but where’s the fun in that? Why narrow them down when you can hit them all up? Your stomach will suffer a little, but as they say, no pain, no gain.
