If you have been blogging for any amount of time, I’m sure you have heard of nofollow links. Or maybe you have a sponsored post and the brand has asked you to create nofollow links for all links in the post. Now you are asking What is a nofollow link and how do I create one?
It is so easy, do not stress this. It’s just a simple little code that you paste into your blog post for any paid links. That’s all. It’s the same code every time. It’s short. Let me show you how to do it.
What Are Nofollow Links?
First off, what are no follow links? They are links within a post or article on a page with the HTML tag nofollow applied to them. This just means that google, yahoo or bing look at these links differently than they would a non nofollow link. Search engines will kind of ignore this link and do not pass PageRank.
Nofollow links are links with a rel=”nofollow” HTML tag applied to them. The nofollow tag tells search engines to ignore that link. Because nofollow links do not pass PageRank they likely don’t impact search engine rankings. Or so google explains!
Google rolled out this feature in 2005 when SPAM and comment bots were a huge issue. It was ranking spammy sites instead of great content and google graduated in how to sift through websites. In 2019, this algorithm is even more sophisticated.

How to Create a nofollow Link
Here it is, the simple easy way. Don’t let any other articles confuse you. It is a short simple code. I will show you in the graphic below.
I hope this makes it super clear for you. I’ll include the code again down here so you can copy and paste it directing into your blog posts.
<a href=”https://whateverlink.com” rel=”nofollow”>Whatever Link</a>
Just replace the link between the quotation marks and then replace the text that says Whatever Link with the Word or Phrase you want to show up in your post!
Isn’t that so easy? Aren’t you glad you glad you came here and not another website that wanted to explain the entire history of nofollow? Short and sweet is what you get here. If you still have questions please write them below in the comments, I would love to help clarify anything.
