The amazing benefits of juicing – Plus its delicious!Β
Thinking back I’m not exactly sure when I actually started juicing regularly. I do; however, remember how I felt that first time. I liken it to the most amazing cup of coffee I ever had. Every time I put down a βgreen juiceβ I can actually feel life flowing through my veins! Its a type of natural energy surge that just feels natural. There is so much life packed into these nutrient dense refreshments. With the rise in number of juice bars its easy to grab a variety of juices while your on the go. If you are going to incorporate fresh juice into your daily routine those $6-$8 visits to the juice bar will add upβ¦ especially if you have little ones who LOVE it too! Β
Β I will share, in a moment, one of my favorite Juicing recipes but first I want to mention the two types of juicers.Β
Masticating Juicers: These juicers are typically more expensive and take longer to operate. But thy are much more efficient literally squeezing every drop of juice out of your fruits and veggies. This type of juicer is good if you are juicing a lot of green leafy veggies. You will defiantly yield more juice with this type of juicer.Β
Centrifugal Juice extractor: This is a more common and more budget friendly option. This type of juicer grinds your fruits and veggies and uses centripetal force to extract the juice. Honestly this type of juicer is a great option to get you started at rite around $100. You can still juice green leafy veggies with this type of juicer but it is not as efficient and you will need to use more greens.Β
Here is one of my favorite juices that I make consistently. The kids love this one! It has a slight orange color to it because of the carrots.Β
1 Cucumber
2 Carrots
1 Green Apple
2 Celery Stalks
1/2 lemon
4 cups of spinach or two Kale stalks.
1 inch of ginger root.
If your produce is quite large cut it up in pieces that will easily fit into your juicer and then juice away. The order does not matter at all. Once your done processing your produce you will want to stir up the juice
You can also add Oranges, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Red apples, literally any other fruit or green leafy veggie you want will work.Β Experiment with adding different fruits and veggies. Lemons and Limes can be put through the juicer with their peel on but if you are juicing oranges or grapefruit you need to peel them because it will make your juice very bitter.Β Don’t try bananas! Bananas don’t have any juice and that will just gunk up your juicer.
