There’s one thing I do not regret doing!… And that is making proper findings before I purchased my new appliances. Just as I predicted, they ended up being affordable, highly-functional, and so far, I’ve not had any reason to doubt this investment.
But what were the things I examined that made me so sure I wasn’t making a financial error? (Bear with me, but I’m just not a fan of wasting money on the wrong items).
Fortunately, here I’ll unveil what worked for me, so that when you need to purchase new appliances, you can avoid common mistakes that some people fall victim to.
Focus On The Important Features
Sometimes one could get carried away by the attractive finishes of an appliance that somehow communicates an impression of quality.
For example, when buying an air fryer, you can ask yourself questions like, “how functional is this appliance, what type of meals can I conveniently cook in it, what amount of cook presets does it have/do I need, etc?”
Once you’re clear on your needs, it becomes easier to silence the temptation of buying a pretty pink but less versatile air fryer that you may first think is the perfect addition to your kitchen.
A rule of thumb is always to remember that all that glitters is not gold!
Be Open To Reviews And Recommendations
While learning what to look for in a new appliance, it’s actually ideal to seek out recommendations from your friends and family. Thankfully, you’re not limited to the reviews from only those you know because you can now read and follow the online reviews of the appliance.
There you’ll learn about the experience others have had while using it(the appliance). And I recommend reading these online reviews from various sources to give you a good insight into what it’s worth.
Buy When They Are Very Affordable
I found out that during September & October, most stores will very likely be clearing their older appliances for newer ones. This means that there’s a high chance of getting a quality appliance at the lowest possible price around this time.
Aside from my refrigerator, which I’ll normally buy at a lower price in May, the other months I always look forward to… well, you guessed right- September and October!. Now you can understand how I’m able to get the best appliances at the lowest possible price.
Prioritize Energy Efficient Appliances
Maybe you’re asking, “But how am I able to identify an appliance that’s energy efficient?”
It’s very simple:
Most, if not all appliances come with yellow EnergyGuide labels that show the extent of its efficiency, so look out for this sign.
Energy-efficient appliances have lots of benefits, including enhancing your lifestyle, helping you save money & energy by lowering your utility bill, they are eco-friendly, and so much more.
Furthermore, to know an appliance that will be the most energy-efficient, it’ll have an EnergyStar label on it, unlike its counterparts.
Consider these before buying your next set of appliances!
What other things do you look out for when buying new appliances?
Getting the right appliances the first time has really saved me a lot of money & time, especially since I started applying the tips I just unveiled to you. I am so glad I can finally share my checklist with you.
Let me know what your buying experience has been like up till now in the comments below.
I’ve been renting my whole life so I’m very excited to be buying things for my new home.
