COVID 19 has essentially had us trapped in our homes for a little over a year now. You’ve watched and re-watched every single movie you own and you’re tired of Netflix. What you want is some human interaction and a night in the town. Unfortunately, we can’t give you that. For the moment, social distancing regulations mandate that you stay inside. What we can do is give you a few ideas to liven up those virtual events that have become such a part of our lives.
This one involves getting your friends all dressed up for virtual cocktails, even if they have nowhere to go. You can send out formal invites or just Whatsapp a few friends with the Zoom link for your event. Some pre-planning will have to go into this event so that you and your friends can have your favorite drinks on hand once the event starts. If you want your cocktail party to stand out, you can even invite a bartender to hold a short mixology class. Cheers! Drink up!
Chat With A Celebrity
The COVID 19 economic downturn hasn’t only affected the regular guy. Several of our favorite celebrities, or at least local personalities, have been out of work too. Many of them will now allow you to set up bookings to chat with them for a short, predetermined time, for a fee of course. Wouldn’t it be nice to bond with your favorite actor, or singer in a way you couldn’t if you went to see them at a live concert or movie? Having a celebrity at your party will be something your friends and family will talk about for a long time to come.
Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
If you’ve ever been to a live magic show, you were stunned and amazed by the tricks you saw and left wondering how they were done. Meeting software can work its magic, all you have to do is click here, and have the same thrills and excitement brought to you at home. Many stage performers, singers, comedians … and magicians have altered their acts so that they can be broadcast live via Zoom.
You can even book a live band to perform at your virtual party. Once you get a feel for the idea, your entertainment options are endless.
Bring The Big Screen Home
If you get tired of streaming movies at home alone, you can get together with a group of friends to share the experience. There are several options here and Zoom is one of the cheapest because it allows its users to use its service for free. One participant can share their screen and broadcast the movie to the others.
Sharing a movie experience with friends on Netflix is also a possibility. However, everyone is required to have a Netflix account to partake.
Have you and your friends always wanted to learn to do something? Whether it’s painting, making your favorite foods or desserts, or even trying out hot yoga for the first time, there is likely an online class for it. All you and your friends have to do is sign up and bring your talent and originality for a good time. While not a wild party idea, it will be fun and break the monotony of sitting at home alone.
Virtual Board Games
When was the last time you played Pictionary? How about Monopoly? If you can’t remember, it may be time to reconnect with your favorite childhood games. This is a good event idea for a family function. There are several sites online that allow you and your friends and family to play almost any board game online, or allow you to purchase and download games for personal use.
Why should Karaoke Night be limited to your Friday night bar session? You and your friends can croon your favorite tunes virtually. Set up here requires a little bit of work to get the best sound quality; several sites will assist you to host online karaoke events. Choose one that best suits you and sing your social distancing blues away.
With no end in sight to the COVID 19 pandemic, we’ll be home distancing from each other for a little while longer. That doesn’t mean we can’t socialize. Try these ideas with friends to keep safe, and sane, as you take the party online.
